About

We partner with the United African Alliance Community Center (UAACC), a community-based NGO founded in 1991 to enrich the local community. Academic Solutions and the UAACC family are able to take your students to greater heights of learning and sharing by guiding them off the beaten path into meaningful community interactions and cultural immersion.

Excursions and cultural activities

Visits to local cultural and social enterprises can be twinned with language training, art and music workshops to foment cultural engagement and fun. Additional tourist visits to Mount Kilimanjaro and world-famous game parks can also be arranged.

    Kilimanjaro hike

    Africa’s highest mountain and extinct volcano, Kilimanjaro, promises an unforgettable adventure, culminating in the breathtaking summit of Kibo Peak.

    Arusha National Park

    Easily accessible, less frequented than more famous game parks, and where students are able to see giraffes, buffalo, zebras, warthogs, monkeys, and elephants.

    Shanga Handicrafts workshop

    Founded in 2007 and now employing more than 60 people with a range of disabilities to make creative products including weaving, glass blowing, beading, paper making and metal work, using recycled materials wherever possible.

    African Cultural Heritage Center

    This unique establishment expresses African culture and art with quite possibly the largest concentration of African arts and artefacts within the largest gallery in Africa, itself an architectural complex like no other.

    Maji Moto

    This gorgeous geothermal spring is popular because of its setting and warm water (‘maji moto’). Students can enjoy soaking in the natural pools, testing the rope swing, and relaxing in the shade of the huge trees. This oasis in the savannah is clean and well-maintained.

    Maasai Market

    This labyrinth of informal shops promotes local crafts directly benefiting local craftspeople. Souvenirs, paintings, masks, sculptures, clothing, jewelry, beaded calabashes and so much more can be found and at very reasonable prices for those who know how to bargain. 

Housing Options

The UAACC offers comfortable on-site accommodation, meals, classroom space and other amenities. Accommodation is located within the UAACC community.

    Local

    Your students will live on-site at the United African Alliance Community Center, in the heart of everything. Being local means being able to take advantage of every learning opportunity, whether part of their educational project or vibrant discussions with community residents. They will have the opportunity to live and learn locally. The Center will be their African home.

    Authentic

    Not only local and center-based but authentic: nothing fancy here! Students will have all the safe drinking water they need but will wait for showers. The lush surroundings guarantee plenty of insect life but the accommodation has screens.   Your students will adjust and focus on what really matters: their African experience.

    Community

    Your students will live and learn from the community at the United African Alliance Community Center as well as the villages right outside its gates. The O'Neals established this center over three decades ago. So many lives have been changed and your students will learn directly from those impacted.
